Working for Mr. Waterman - 1891

Built at Buffalo in 1881, the "Uarda" was a steam yacht owned by Cameron D. Waterman of Detroit.  This chapter of the book Detroit Perspectives: Crossroads and Turning Points follows the cabin boy's experience of working for Mr. Waterman (Cameron B.'s dad).

The Uarda was converted to a passenger boat and owned at Mt. Clemons, Michigan being used for excursions for shore resorts on the Clinton and St. Clair Rivers besides going to Detroit. She also ran Hancock & Houghton to resorts on Portage Lake. She was owned at Marquette, Michigan in 1919 and probably ran the Apostle Island route on Lake Superior. She was abandoned at Marquette in 1921.
