Tomahawk Day x Day: We Made It!! - Monday 7/30/2018

We pulled in around 4:30 Monday.   Found friends on the strip and at DQ

If you are new to the Tomahawk meet, the first thing you notice is that it is set up on a long, straight ex-landing strip! The strip runs parallel to the Wisconsin River. Now it is part of Sara Park and  AOMCI members set up along both sides to sell, trade and show their outboards, boats and outboardy stuff.  There are two additional "streets" coming off the strip at right angles for even more sellers and more camping.

This photo is from the back of one of additional streets.

This is the strip.

Boats for sale go into the "Boat Yard".  More will be there once the meet starts Wednesday.

Where the elite meet...Dairy Queen!  Jack spotted these two lovebirds as we drove in for our treats.

A Waterman Sweet and Kids Having a Blast

The Sweet was first made by Waterman and then by Caille.  The Sweet is called a badge motor.  A badge motor is contracted by an entrepreneur or company like Sears to be produced by an already existing manufacturer.
If you want to know more about Sweets, go to this webpage.

Jack loves his Caille Sweet, of course.  (he is the AOMCI Caille Special Interest Group leader...so he is where you ask questions about Cailles.)

I think I photographed this from Chris Scratch's (Southern Ontario Rowboat Chapter of AOMCI's premier) volume of 1915 Motorboat mags a few years ago at the Dossin meet).  I would love to have the real photograph!!!

Tomahawk Here We Come...

Jack is driving.  I am cruising file folders.  Have I shared this one?
Seems appropriate to post to get you in the mood for launching at Sara Park in Tomahawk at the Northwoods Chapter of AOMCI meet this week .               !!!!   :-)  (remind you of anyone?)

"Evinruding" - A Collection of News Articles and Ads

Every year around the time of the Tomahawk AOMCI meet I become aware that Jack's web sites need work and updating.

Digging into my to-do list I found these odds and ends. I thought I would stick them here first just for fun to remind folks of the Bess Evinrude Ice Cream Run on the Wisconsin River!  All rowboat motors (and their people) are invited to take the trip up the river to the Dunkin Donut which has a dock.  It is a fun expedition, fraught with rowboat motor peril, but we all get there one way or another!!

This first page is full size at the end of this blog posting, so don't strain your eyes.

2018 Tomahawk Day x Day

Jack and I will be going to Tomahawk this year! Visit this page for details from the Northwoods Chapter of AOMCI.
This page, right here, is the web address where you will find the daily uploads of photos.
If you ever spot something you'd like me to get a few more photos of, e-mail me, and I might be able to find it again the next day...no promises 
Hope to see you there!
