Here is another book to scan, or read, for some great photos and information to set the scenes of Hoag and Wilton's transcontinental journey's first days.
Thank goodness for the Internet Archive, Project Gutenberg, Hathitrust and others keeping older books available to us. I'm old enough to remember when town libraries had 100 year old books on the shelves for circulation...but those days are gone, along with a lot of first person tales of doing this and that against the odds.
