John Edwin Hogg seems have done every exciting expedition you can think of with his trusty outboards. In fact, he did one of them twice...with 30 some years in between...and it was that trip across the United States that brought this article to my attention. I also found his much more detailed serialized story written in 1926 about the first journey that looks to be interesting to post.
